AT THE CHAPEL
Pre-Parliament Party:
In June, nearly 50 people showed up at the Chapel to "prepare" for the Parliament of the World's Religions. We shared experiences of previous Parliament events, got an insider's guide to Salt Lake City and share the workshops, presentation and panels from those with approved proposals. Then we got see each other again at the Parliament.
Pacifica Institute:
Last spring, we welcomed Pacifica Institute (a mainly Turkish-American Muslim organization) to the Presidio Interfaith Chapel as they opened their first San Francisco branch here .
Veterans:
Memorial Day, Veterans' Day, Wreaths Across America. Participants from many faiths honored and remembered those who fought for their country.
Collaborations:
Girl Scout Sunday Interfaith Service
The Interfaith Center hosted the S.F. Unit of the Girl Scouts again in March as they held their annual multireligious celebration.
S. F. Girls Chorus
In April, the Chorus performed Kinderkreuzzug, an anti-war cantata for children's voices. The next day they held a symposium and interfaith panel at the Chapel discussing the effects of war on children.
S.F. Interfaith Council, CA Interfaith Power & Light, United Religions Initiative
An Abrahamic faiths panel was convened to discuss Granada: A Pomegranate in the Hand of God, a book written by Steven Nightingale about the Muslim, Christian and Jewish communities in Medieval Spain.
Ahimsa, ServiceSpace and the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery
Rethinking Technology as if People Matter was a symposium exploring the effects of the Digital Revolution.
Pacifica Institute and First United Lutheran Church
We began a Muslim/Christian book study in Sept.on Islam's Jesus by Zeki Saritoprak. Please join us on the first Wed. of the month at 7:00.
AROUND THE BAY AREA AND BEYOND
Peace in the Park
Attendees at our booth wrote answers to the question "How Can the Religious Leaders of the World Foster Peace?" We took the answers to the Parliament.
NAIN Connect
The North American Interfaith Network conference this year was held at Regina, Saskatchewan.
Wrestling Jerusalem
This important play about the issues in Israel/Palestine included another Abrahamic faiths panel after the performance.
United Nations and United Religions Initiative Celebrations
The UN turned 60, and URI turned 15. We celebrated appropriately.
